Hiratanenashi is an astringent persimmon that can be eaten fresh once it has fully ripened (you don’t eat these while they are crunchy, or you will regret it!).

In addition to being eaten ripe, they are commonly used for drying (Hoshigaki) as they have a stronger flavour than other types such as Fuyu.
