Description
Commonly to referred to as the Uvaia/Uvalha, the Eugenia Pyriformis is a sweet fruit that our visitors have described from passionfruit to tropical fruit juice, or “tropical”.
They come in sweet and sour types, with the sour more used for juicing and the sweet eaten off the tree. We only grow the sweet type and recommend you wait until the fruit turn fully orange when picking to avoid disappointment.
It is native to parts of South America, including Brazil and Argentina. They’re highly ornamental trees capable of surviving down to below 0c once mature.
They’re one of the nicest looking plants in our nursery and often fruit for us in their third year. Many of our medium sized plants are already flowering, and our large ones have already fruited previously (limited availability).
