Cherimoya, also locally known as the custard apple, is a delicious fruit which is creamy and sweet, with flavours generally ranging from banana to pineapple. They grow well in any frost-free locations with decent drainage and are generally quite hardy.

This plant has been grafted with the ‘REX’ variety. It produces a medium sized fruit with an excellent, top-quality flavour. It tastes like bubblegum and is a personal favourite of ours. It is believed to have been bred by Dave Austen in Kaitaia, having been the seedling of ‘Reretai’ and ‘Ecuadorian’.

These plants have been flowering already but we recommend you pull fruit off for the next couple years to allow the tree to establish. They are self-fertile, so you only need one but they are so good that you might want more.
