Description
The Australian black gold variety has a small-sized fruit with delicious, bubblegum tasting golden flesh that has a firm texture (halfway between soft and crunchy).
- Black Gold is reportedly more cold tolerant than other jackfruit types, and is known to be an early season producer more suitable for subtropical climates.
- Firm texture, neither dry or sloppy.
- Strong bubblegum flavour.
- Grown outside for the past two winters, never been in a heated greenhouse.
- Dwarf growth habit, bushing out rather than growing straight up. Recommended height of 2x2m.
- Australia origin.
Jackfruit requires a frost-free and well-draining location, whether that be in the ground in the North Island or in a container anywhere that is protected from frosts and excess rain. They do not always grow true to type but generally retain their parents characteristics.
