I am happy to give any advice needed and will supply growing recommendations. These are currently being grown in an Auckland greenhouse so should be either put inside, in a greenhouse (unheated will do), or outside in a location sheltered from excess rain. Move the plant outside to a sunny location for Spring and it will grow rapidly. Always protect young seedlings from the risk of frost.

Jackfruit are known to grow well on the warmer side of the North Island and I am aware of trees fruiting in Tauranga, Auckland, Whangarei and of course the Far North. If you are in a colder area then it is best to keep these grown in a container but otherwise should be suitable to plant in the ground (in a well draining spot) after a couple years of container growing. The main key to their survival is to protect from frost and make sure their roots aren’t saturated over winter, much like growing an avocado. They may not grow to type but are generally very similar to their parent.
